Joseph R. Perrone Assembly 2789

History

On April 3, 2003, District Deputy Sir Knight Thomas Witzman, convened a special meeting of Sir Knights from Council 7968 at their hall to consider establishing a new Assembly composed solely of Council's members.

Since the primary reason for decreasing participation in Assembly meetings was "driving distance," the Master of the Fourth Degree, Frank Scandone, authorized and encouraged councils in rural areas to form their own Assemblies. This applied to any council that was located over a 25-mile distance to their current Assembly meetings.

Twenty Sir Knights participated in the meeting and by a simple majority vote of 13 to 5 with two abstentions, it was agreed to form an Assembly--to be known as the Joseph R. Perrone Assembly 2789. New assemblies were also being established at Milton and Gulf Breeze.

Officers were elected and By-laws were discussed and approved. Meeting nights were agreed upon to be the first Thursday of the month at 7pm. Dues were set at $10.00 annually, with an additional one-time voluntary contribution of $10.00 by the charter members to establish an operating fund.

The Supreme Committees on new assemblies approved the establishment of our assembly on May 2, 2003.
